This was a really frustrating and disappointing experience for us. We were told our loan would close by a certain date, but due to thier poor communication with the appraiser and an inaccurate report we missed that deadline and had to pay for a revised appraisal ourselves . later we were told the loan terms had to change to hgher rate and fee because of how our company is structured - something we had disclosed from the start. After weeks of delays and unexpected costs, we had to switch lenders to move forward. It was a stressful and disappointing process that could have been avoided with better communication and attention to detail. We regret not going with other lender from the beginning.

Each time they have been expedient with giving and requesting info to move the process along quickly. We are looking at a 21 day escrow and I do not know of any other team that was able to make that commitment for funding.

I was pre approved by Movement Mortgage when my offer for a condo was accepted. As we moved through the process, the information I was told in verbal communications did not align with what was on paper. As rates rose, they encouraged me not to lock my rates, telling me that they would watch the market and look for fluctuations to get me the best possible rate. In parallel, they deterred me from shopping for a better rate with other lenders, saying that if I did that I would be unable to get a loan at all due to the multiple credit pulls. This was purely a scare-tactic to get me to stay with them, as multiple loan-related pulls on your credit in a short window do not negatively affect credit. Luckily, I DID contact other lenders, who gave me much better rates than the Movement team was providing. While I don't necessarily fault the Movement team for not being able to link me with a lender with the lowest rate, I do fault them for being dishonest and intimidating during such a stressful process.

When I was looking to purchase a home I reached out to friends and family to get a referral for a lender and my brother had used Scott ten years ago when he purchased his home. Ten years is a long time, but I reached out to Scott and it worked out very well for me. Scott is very good at what he does and throughout the entire process he was always available to answer any questions. One might think that all the lender does is approve you for a loan and give you a good interest rate, but Scott does that and so much more. He always made himself available to both my real estate agent and myself. In this market which favors the seller, just to see a home you have to be pre-approved. Scott and his team made it easy for my real estate agent to request a custom pre-approval letter for each and every home I visited so that the sellers could see that I was approved for the price that they were asking without revealing the actual amount that I was approved for. The turnaround time to get one of these letters was lightning quick, most of the time a few hours. Scott provides his clients with a wealth of information and always makes himself available to have a conversation in order to answer any questions you might have. The biggest question I had throughout the entire process was what can I afford? That is a question that one must answer on their own, however it is very beneficial to have a resource like Scott to provide you with numbers so that you can come up with a purchase price that you are comfortable with. In order to purchase a home there are many people involved at different stages and Scott and his team were very timely whenever action was required on their end, working with my real estate agent, the escrow company and even my insurance company. They made the whole process a lot easier for me by taking care of a lot of little details. For the home I ended up purchasing the seller required me to be cross qualified. Scott got on the phone with the other lender and provided them with all of the information that they required which meant that I did not have to go through the entire process of qualifying with the other lender. I can’t say enough about the value that Scott and his team provided throughout the whole home purchasing process. I highly recommend Scott and his team.

Rude, obnoxious and outright disrespectful. Also, a liar. I went to him while first... he told me a higher APR... so I went to another loan officer. Then he said... oh I closed at 2.99%... I said, can you get me that lower rate? This is the text response from him:

“XXXXX - this isn’t how I do business with the back and forth. You should stick with the lender you chose. If it’s just about rate. I’m sorry. I’m not your guy.

I asked you to trust me after I put in all the work up front, and I didn’t even get a courtesy call- just got dumped because you thought somebody else can get you a lower rate.

That’s not the kind of business relationship I have time for. I’m sure the other guy will do a great job. “

Bought my first home with Scott. Scott is professional, timely, courteous, personable: everything you look for in a lender. He was tremendously helpful after I closed, going above and beyond with follow up questions and concerns.

Terrible experience. Once Scott learned that there was real work involved in helping us, he abruptly stopped the meeting and mentioned the other times we made him do all sorts of financial engineering (I really don't remember asking for anything other than if he could help us find a 7-year ARM) and did not award him any business. I thought that was funny, considering how much of a commodity this type of service really is.

I never write reviews, but these people have no customer service. You get transferred from one person to another. I called about two weeks ago to see how much we qualify for a mortgage and that I needed help since I'm a first time home buyer and have no idea where to start. They told me to just fill out the application online and to email the paperwork needed. I wanted to set up a person appointment since it's easier for us and I like to deal with people face to face but they basically refused and said to fill out the paperwork online first, so I did what they asked for. I did not here back from them at all so unprofessional, they can be honest and say that I didn't qualify for anything but at least give me an answer don't just have me waiting. So I decided to call them today, they asked for my name and then said what's the best number to reach you? Like really I just want to know what's going on not a call back and that's if they even call back. They are no help!

I am a broker owner at Keller Williams and have a wide choice of lenders to choose from on my personal deals. My own file is a nightmare bc of many LLC's and other complications. I was late to a deal on a property in Palm Springs and had to go with no loan contingency in order to have my offer considered--thus I had a lot to lose. I went with Scott because of his reputation in this business and he exceeded my expectations in every way. His team was extremely responsive and very, very organized and timely. He beat the aggressive timeline that he gave me at the beginning of the deal. I know that no other lender could do this-I have had bad experiences with amazing lenders simply because things always go wrong with complex files. If you have a deal that MUST close, he is the single best choice.

Yes, this is yet another 5 star review for the Groves Lending Team. In all honesty, Scott is a good friend of mine-- I have known him since high school and I would trust him with my life... and the future of my family. With that in mind, I handed him the most impossible loan to accomplish: credit scores were well below par, a student loan default had to be overcome. Today, we have the home of our dreams in the neighborhood of our dreams because the Groves Lending Team did not let us down. In truth, there is no such thing as a perfect transaction. This transaction is no exception. However, the true test of a good lender is their ability to pick the ball up and run once it has been fumbled-- and close the sucker on time (technically a day ahead, in my case). The Groves Lending Team picked up that ball and ran every time the going got tough along the way. I won't talk about Scott, because I'm kind of biased, but Stephanie and Marlene were epically responsive, professional and on top of everything! I had a really good experience with Movement Mortgage. The last time I bought was in 2007 and things have changed a lot. I was initially working with a few lenders, but unlike the other lenders, Scott always seemed to provide me with additional information that I didn't ask for, and didn't know I needed, but turned out to be very helpful in making decisions. Ultimately, it was him providing up front info rather than me having to ask about something after the fact that I chose to pursue funding through Movement Mortgage. Once my offer was accepted, the rest of the team worked with me on what I thought would be a difficult process (difficult mostly because I was going to be out of the country for 12 days, seven of which I'd be completely unreachable by any means while on the Andaman Sea). Before I left we worked out a plan and when I came back, things had moved forward as planned and I picked up the process that they had continued in my absence.

We got our first mortgage through Movement and everything seemed like it was going to be a good match. When you're applying for a loan they do everything they can to get your business and respond to every email or phone call. Once they get you your loan you will never hear from them again. We closed on our loan on November 30th 2015 and I emailed a few weeks later to set up direct deposit and to make sure we can still set up bi-monthly payments. They ensured us that we could do this before we started the loan process but now they don't return our emails. We even got a Christmas card saying call or email us anytime for questions. A few days later we receive a letter stating that they sold our loan to another company "CENLAR". They haven't even collected one payment from us and they already sold our loan. So most likely they will do the same with yours. No wonder why they didn't respond to my inquiries in December. Being first time home buyers I would not recommend them to you. They will treat you nice for a month then get your money and sell it to someone else to some company you've never heard of and has no customer service at all. If I wanted to go with another company in the first place I would have done so. You do your homework and vet different rates and companies and you pick one that will be close to you and have good service. But no these aren't those types. They will sell your loan and all your homework gets thrown out the door and deemed useless. It's their right to sell a loan but don't pretend you're going to be quality customer service for 30 years and send us a Christmas card when you already sold our loan. We also received fake letters over and over reminding us to buy home insurance from them. We got about one per day for a month that made it seem like we needed to pay something. They also will sell all of your information to 3rd party scams that will bombarge your new mailbox with fake warning notices and letters, just ignore them. This is not a good company for a first time home buyer to sum it up.

Scott made getting my loan super painless. I am an independent contractor in the film industry and that doesn't look great when applying for a loan (bouncing from employer to employer every week). But Scott and Stephanie helped me figure out a way to make it work. Now I have a fantastic house. Great people over there at movement. Thanks again!

Being a first time homebuyer, I was worried about the process of obtaining a mortgage. I was told it could be time-consuming, difficult and confusing. Well, I can't speak for other places, but nothing could be further from the truth with Scott and his team. A friend recommended them and said they were amazing...she wasn't kidding! In the time leading up to making an offer, Patrick took my call every time and answered what were probably very dumb questions, and educated me on the process. When I finally found a home and it came time to start the mortgage process, Stephanie, Marlene and Scott were phenomenal. I was buying a home that was in rough shape and needed a lot of work. The seller was concerned about how long it would take to get the appraisals and take care of all the loan documents, and because of this insisted on a late closing penalty if it took longer than the allotted time to close. I talked to Scott and his team and they were confident that it would not be a problem to meet the seller's deadline. In the end, Movement Mortgage was so fast and efficient, that the loan was funded before the seller even finished the few minimal repairs they agreed to, and I ended up waiting on them! Scott, Patrick, Stephanie and Marlene truly could not have been better. They walked me through every step of the process, and kept me informed on the progress of my loan through regular calls and email updates. Seriously, I can't recommend them enough! You will not regret using them!

Scott and his team were fantastic the entire way through. This was not my first Mortgage broker - and the other was fine - but it's a different energy with these guys. They make you feel totally secure, are incredibly fast and organized, and super responsive when you need them. We closed was fast er than expected and I have been recommending them to everyone who needs somebody.

I recently completed a refinance with Movement Mortgage. Patrick was my loan officer and he and his team member Stephanie did a fantastic job handling the whole process. I received a lower interest rate than my current mortgage and Patrick discussed with me their streamlined refinance process. Early in the process I contacted Wells Fargo as a comparison and found that they charged over $3800 to buy down the interest rate they offered down to my current interest rate. Nevertheless, I stayed with Patrick and Movement Mortgage and what I liked about them was that the process to refinance took about three weeks and the communication during the process was excellent. I was able to call or text Patrick and I received a response immediately even during the evening when I had questions. I will recommend Patrick and his team to anyone I know who is looking for either a new loan or a refinance. Even if you have someone currently, definitely call them about what rates they have to offer as their service is first class.

Scott and his team (in particular Larisa) were great to work with! We were expecting a 30 day escrow but were prepared for closing to occur after the 30 days due to new mortgage regulations. However, with Movement Mortgage, we closed in less than 30 days. They were responsive and on-top of everything. They provided us update each step of the way and quickly answered any questions we had. Buying a house can be fairly stressful but working with Movement helped this process go much easier and we appreciate all of the work they did for us. I would definitely recommend Movement Mortgage!

After my mortgage started to move sideways with a different lender on day 30 of a 30 day escrow, my agent suggested I call Groves Lending Team as a back up. I called and worked Larisa at his office and she was wonderful. They pre-approved me within a few hours at a lower interest rate than the previous lender and were able to close the loan in 10 days. My biggest regret was not calling them first.

We entered a 30 day escrow with a major retail bank, pre-qualified by the bank. We were buying a $1m house, AND wanted to keep the duplex we already owned and lived in. 17 days later, the retail bank seemed to have gotten nowhere, although they had assured us all was well, so we had released all contingencies. We turned to Scott, Patrick and Movement, at first just to be a stalking horse to get the retail bank to perform. On day 28 we received an onerous condition letter from our bank, which demanded that we commit financial suicide, liquidating assets, getting gifts, and so on. Clearly, they did not know what they were doing. We fired the retail bank on day 33 and went with Movement. Almost everything was different with Movement. The communication was better; the structuring of the deal; the understanding of our finances. They provided a 30 year super jumbo loan which the retail bank did not even offer (but they did not offer the low ball, interest only, 5 year, super low payment loans that the retail bank had.) On day 45, we recorded. If you are stuck in a process and it feels wrong, jump ship now! If we had pre-approved with Movement, we could have closed in 20 days, avoiding stress and costly per diems. There is a lot of incompetency, even in the highest places of the 'best' banks, but Movement knows what it can, and can not, do.

Scott and Stephanie are excellent. They really do a great job. Everything was great and would totally recommend them to anyone. As long as you have your T's crossed, they will dot all you I's.

If you are "googling" your brains out trying to find the right lender for your home purchase.....STOP!!! You have found what you are looking for, search no further than Scott Groves and Movement Mortgage. Our loan just funded and we are so happy with what they were able to do for us! The home we just bought may not be the only home we ever buy, but it will be the only time we are first-time buyers. Scott's team was so patient in handling our questions, talking us through any concerns, etc. and made the financing portion of the first-time home buying process go smoothly. My only regret is not having come to them right out of the starting gate. Scott took the time to meet with me in person, sit down, and explore the process so that we could find the right loan model that worked to maximize savings and keep us within a price range that we could accept. We are very, very happy.

Movement Mortgage was the BEST "first step" we could've taken in the home buying process. My husband and I were first-time homebuyers and I came across them via Yelp! When we were ready to come in for the pre-approval process we met with Patrick. He was great - the process ran extremely smooth with this company. They answered every question imaginable and reassured us whenever we had doubts about things. Patrick took the time to meet with us numerous times (on the weekend, might I add because my husband and I work late) so that he could address anything we had questions about. It was ridiculously easy to get ahold of him, which I think was a MAJOR plus. The home buying process is a scary one to begin with, to add response time to the mix is just an anxiety attack waiting to happen; however, none of that applies when it comes to Movement Mortgage. Above all else, they made us feel comfortable. It makes all the difference when you feel comfortable and trust the people you're doing business with, especially with such a large transaction. I would definitely recommend using them as your lender - ask for Patrick, he's amazing!! You'll be pre-approved and looking for homes in no time.

Stay away, these guys are terrible and will take advantage of you especially if you are a first time home buyer. They have high fees, are terrible at communicating with you, are terrible with communicating within their own team, and offer very uncompetitive loans. They'll tell you otherwise, but screw you over in the end when it's too late to back out. The reviews on this page are written by their friends as a favor. If you look into the profiles they are mostly other people in the industry like realtors. I repeat, STAY AWAY!!!!

I've worked with Scott on a couple mortgage deals at this point, and I will say this: he always gets the deal done. He does his best to make the process as painless as possible, and strives to make sure the rate he gets his clients is the best the market has to offer. We were referred to Scott and Larissa and Movement Mortgage by our real estate agent who we love and completely trusted. We wanted to make an offer in the hot Los Angeles market and getting a real "pre-appoval" would put us above other offers. Scott and Larissa worked very quickly on short notice and had to deal with a very complicated situation being that we are both independent contractors with crazy student loan debt. The best thing was that Scott (and Larissa in particular) worked multiple scenarios in order to get us to qualify. Another company we worked with just told us we didn't qualify and that was it! We used Scott to obtain a loan for our home. One service he offers that was very helpful was that he give pre-approval letters (not just pre-qualification) which helps give offers an edge. Once we actually had an accepted offer on what is now our home, as any rational buyer would, we shopped around for other rates and asked Scott if he could match. Rather than patiently work with us to ensure that he could offer the best rate possible for us, Scott pressured us into continuing to work with him, argued with us, and threatened not to work with us anymore if we continued to shop around (which would have forced us to pull out of escrow, thus putting us in a position of potentially losing the house). A mortgage broker with good customer service should not be afraid of competition and matching prices, yet what we experienced from Scott was unpleasant and frustrating. However, we really enjoyed working with his staff. Larissa is phenomenal: always pleasant, patient, and available for any questions. And we are giving four stars because ultimately we feel like we got a good rate. It wasn't an ideal experience getting there.

I just bought my first home and went through Scott and his team at Movement Mortgage to go through the loan process. I don't have previous experience with other mortgage brokers to compare to but overall I felt that my experience was very good. I always hear stories of horrible mortgage experiences and my loan process felt almost too easy. Scott was great about explaining every detail at the beginning, breaking down the elements in a way that was easy to understand and he was very clear about his recommendations. Everything moved along quickly and reasonably until the last couple days before closing. Minus one star because when Scott was out on vacation in the middle of my escrow the communication about paperwork, documents and timing could have been better and more organized. My real estate agent was very clear and followed up every day for 3 days to ensure that we would have loan documents by a certain day in order to close on time. We were told everything was in order but then that deadline didn't happen, I wasn't being communicated with and I was now in a panic. Scott was back from vacation and when we stressed the sense of urgency and questioned why this wasn't done he pulled through, worked with escrow and made it happen to close on time. So four-stars because I really like Scott and the Movement Mortgage approach, the loan process was fairly easy though tedious, they did a fair/good job communicating but I did not like the last minute scramble at the end and worry that we wouldn't close on time. I would recommend Scott and Movement Mortgage.

With a smaller than 20% downpayment, we talked seriously about price points and settled on a number that was under their maximum but, more importantly, one that Scott told me "Adam, we got this if you can find them a great house." Fast forward several months and we are in a bidding war for a great house in a great area with a listing agent in a local brokerage that is hesitant to accept a solid offer from my clients because they have a superior offer from another buyer with a higher down payment. Putting on the full court press, Scott and his team not only showed this agent how solid their pre-approval was but also reached out to the listing agent's office colleagues to request a positive referral. The listing agent, knowing a solid deal when she saw one, took our offer and convinced her clients that our 'inferior offer' was actually a better and more secure path to closing than the competing offer with a lesser mortgage lending commitment. Without Scott's help, we don't get the offer accepted. Do you work with a lender that can do the same? An appraiser was at the house within 72 hours of escrow opening, the sale closed on time and with absolutely no visible challenges along the way. Clear communication with all involved parties, solid underwriting and great advice to my clients on the process. A pleasure to do business with and a treasure if you want to get a mortgage.

I recently just closed on a condo purchase. During the entire process, I was expecting a million things to go wrong with the loan, just from what others have told me about the whole home buying experience. I've been in the real estate industry for a few years now and have worked with a number of lenders ranging from experienced to all out circus! I have to say, after closing a transaction with Scott, Larisa, Patrick and the team at Primary Residential Mortgage... I'm completely satisfied! No hiccups, no delays and transperent communication throughout the deal made them easy to work with. Larisa made an excellent effort in communication with me daily and answering my many questions...her customer service/relation skills are perfect, very friendly, efficient and knowledgable all while maintaining a positive attitude! (People should be skeptical of a Yelp history of 99% five-star reviews. I have a feeling that this broker, Scott Groves, may spend a lot of time in his office writing reviews of himself instead of doing any work for his clients.) Sadly, we just had the displeasure of using Scott Groves for the purchase of our first home. He was recommended highly by our very competent real estate agent and at first we thought he was fine. There are 40 different examples I could list here of all of the mis-steps he made in handling our loan. At one point we tried to transfer our loan to someone else because we were so fed up but our agent said we would lose the house. We thought about it... We were not able to get any response from him for TWELVE DAYS of our 45 day escrow. When he finally did write back to one of our emails he wasn't apologetic. When I said I wasn't happy about the situation he only defended his actions saying it didn't effect the loan anyway. Wow. Those are some HUGE balls. I wonder if he has ever had previous experience working with clients or customers. After every mistake he made - and there were A LOT - he would just shrug it off like it was no big deal. After promising our agent that everything was lined up to close escrow on time, our close date was delayed. Why? Well, his office had all sorts of BS reasons, none of them their fault, of course. Only once we produced a signed messenger receipt showing that his office got the paperwork on time, did they finally admit that is was their fault, and no one else's. But again, no real apology for their F-up, just a curt "Oh well". This guy is a serious DOUCHE and I only say that after working with him for MONTHS and hoping he would turn things around for our account and start being a decent person. We had to have our agent repeatedly call him to ball him out for his poor performance. You'd think that he would then take a little more care to do things by the books, but no. In the end, he owed us close to $400, which we would get at some point. Eventually we got a check from him - written from his personal checking account - for the WRONG AMOUNT! This guy doesn't care about details, or your money, or you as a client. We have submitted a formal complaint with the Prospect Headquarters & we hope anyone else who has had a negative experience with this joker will do the same. COMPLETE FAIL!

My wife and I just closed on a home with Scott and Prospect mortgage. The entire process was smooth and professional. Scott and his team were constantly making themselves available to answer questions and walk through any and all paperwork that related to the deal. After initially thinking we would not use a broker in the purchase of our home, I would recommend that using Prospect and Scott is completely worth it.

But Scott gets that even though lots of people in this town have varied incomes and income sources (two years ago I was a PA, last year I was on a writing staff, this year I was unemployed), they should still qualify for a mortgage. Scott made it happen for me. He also explained all the gobbeldy gook that's in all those papers you're signing (what the heck are points and how are they different from mortgage insurance 'points?' Scott can explain it in English!) so that the whole thing becomes pretty stress free. I was so happy with Scott that I went right back to him when it was time re-fi. And once again, he KILLED it. If you're in the entertainment industry, if you're a first-time home buyer or if you're just looking to get the best possible deal (and rate) on a mortgage, go to Scott. I think you'll be very happy you did.

I just closed on a home in lightning speed. There were obstacles that came into play but Scott and Larisa easily helped navigate my way through everything. They were exceptional with returning calls, emails and texts. Buying a home is always stressful but because this team is truly on the buyer's side it was so much less stressful than I've experienced with other groups. I highly recommend them to everyone. Scott Groves and his team at Prospect made it possible for us to buy our house when two other highly regarded mortgage brokers said it was impossible. He was able to make my regular 1099 income work for the application when they couldn't figure it out. Here's the story: we spent a long time searching for a house and spoke with Scott early on to get our ducks in a row and to define a budget. Scott and his team (Larissa and Patrick) were highly professional and easy to contact and provided very clear instructions on what they needed for pre-approval. In this tight inventory market, we had to write multiple offers on numerous homes over the course of several months and Scott always provided approval letters as soon as we asked under tight deadlines. When we finally had found the right house and had our offer tentatively accepted, the listing agent required that we do a second, no obligation application through her mortgage broker in order to fully accept our offer. Things started to go downhill when he said that a large part of my 1099 income wouldn't count. Our selling agent then contacted her own mortgage guy to see what he thought and he agreed that the income wouldn't count. We were pretty upset and called Scott who calmed us down and said there was no problem and to give him the number of the listing agents broker so they could talk. The next day I get an email from the other broker basically saying that Scott was a miracle worker and that he would recommend approving our offer. He didn't even bother trying to get us to do the loan through him and said we should stick with Scott. It's clear that Scott taught him something and that he appreciated it. I should also mention that our agent described Scott and his team as total pros for their responsiveness and attention to detail. Now we're enjoying our house and we know that we truly could not have done it without Scott and Prospect!

I like to shop around. With a big decision like a home mortgage, I was unwilling to just automatically go with the nicest, most communicative, most easy to talk to lender I could find.
